Editorial summaries based on the published abstracts and contributions.
1–23: Odonata collected in 2021 in Azerbaijan, including new data on Gomphus schneiderii Selys, 1850 and Libellula pontica Selys, 1887 (Nataly Yu. Snegovaya)
Summer 2021 surveys at 24 localities in 12 Azerbaijani districts recorded 34 species in nine families. New localities are reported for Gomphus schneiderii and Libellula pontica, and an earlier Nabran record of G. vulgatissimus is reassigned to G. schneiderii.
25–32: On the occurrence of Gomphus vulgatissimus (Linnaeus, 1758) and G. schneiderii Selys, 1850 in Azerbaijan – a brief discussion of the known status quo (Martin Schorr & Nataly Yu. Snegovaya)
The authors question the exclusion of Gomphus vulgatissimus from Azerbaijan, reassessing historical and recent records. Maps and a proposed search area support their call for further investigation of the two taxa.
33–36: On the occurrence of Gomphus vulgatissimus (Linnaeus, 1758) and G. schneiderii Selys, 1850 in Azerbaijan – a brief discussion of the known status – a reply (Jean-Pierre Boudot)
Boudot responds to Schorr and Snegovaya, disputing the reliability of cited records and identification criteria. He explains why uncertain records were excluded from the regional atlas.
37–42: Editor's response to Boudot (2022) (Martin Schorr)
Schorr answers the reply, clarifying how records and identification sources were interpreted. He argues for caution in taxonomic judgments and continued investigation of the disputed material.
43–55: Call it schneiderii, but document which identification key you used (Martin Schorr)
Schorr compares published identification criteria and illustrations for the two Gomphus taxa, including scanning electron micrographs. He stresses documenting the identification key used and developing better evidence for taxonomic decisions.
