Abstract

Editorial summaries based on the published abstracts and contributions.

1–8: Preparation of preserved field collected dried damselfly specimens for character illustrations (Rosser W. Garrison)

A practical account of relaxing, positioning and preserving dried damselflies to expose diagnostic structures for drawings and photographs. Methods developed with Argia specimens allow reproductive structures, thoracic plates and appendages to be illustrated and examined again after preparation.

9–20: Imaging preserved damselflies for scientific publications (Rosser W. Garrison)

The author demonstrates how to produce publication images from preserved specimens whose colours have changed after death. Using Argia translata and photographs of living individuals, he explains image preparation intended to approximate living colours and show useful diagnostic features.
